By the way, Lassana Diarra is still training with the club hoping to earn a deal.

Might be a useful midfield signing if we use Kouyate at centre back more often.

I would imagine we have room on our wage bill for this.

Noble hitting his shot straight at de Gea was the turning point. We simply HAVE to get the 2nd goal in matches like this. Like the Man City and Liverpool matches. Gives us a buffer.

Their keeper was the difference between a draw and a win today IMO.

Good team performance. We still need to strengthen the squad and replace Nolan but he surprised me and put in a real shift. That said, even at his best which he was today, he struggled to make a telling impact or anything you can really remember. He was adequate.

Valencia and Sakho as a pair are a real handful and on another day Valencia could have got a goal. Carroll should wait his turn on the bench to return but probably wont :-(

The issue today for me was that after scoring we started to get tired from the 70 min mark and while many will say BFS was the cause with his substitution, I think on this occasion that would be stretching the truth. Jarvis in fact set up the chance for Noble which if buried would have won likely won us the game and Valencia staying on would probably not made any difference (probably).

Noble was neat and tidy and gave a committed performance as did Downing and Song. Song did get caught out in possession and played us into trouble a few times but is still a real positive in this team. He is the lynchpin in midfield.

MOM was undoubtedly "Wily" Kouyate though. Did a great job at CB and a goal.

United in the end got the goal from increasing pressure as we grew tired. It came from a deflection or rebound I think from a hopeful cross into the box by United's Valencia and fell nicely into Blind's path. I was not surprised and while the timing was disappointing we have to be pleased with the performance overall.

Like I said earlier, it shows how we have progressed but how much we also need to keep improving the squad.

I thought we did well today with a rather patched up defence

Kouyate was very good (MOM) & played well at CB

Tomkins put in a very good performance

Song looked a bit iffy again but doesn't look fully fit to me

Nobody seems to be keen on Nolan starting games (myself included) but he did well today

The biggest worry, for me. is our inability to control & dominate the midfield, where we seem to concede far too much possession & space

Maybe that will change when we have 2 fit CH's allowing Kouyate Song & Noble to control the midfield with Downing top of the diamond

Can't critisise too much today. We won the first half but rode our luck inthe second. Late and dissappointing yes but a draw was probably a fair result. Should have been a few more yellows for them though.

Well played West Ham.
Deserved the win but we prob all knew the script.
So its onwards and upwards.

Man U are looking average/shite cos as I've said before, old Beavis and Butthead seems like a control freak, obsessed with his Dutch tactics, which the players are obviously not happy going along with.
He'll tie himself up in knots and crack up or have a barney with one of the players soon or a he'll do a "Pearson" on a reporter who criticises his tactics and they'll out him.

Another broadmoor merchant.

Anyway, fuck them manc cunts, well done again West Ham.
And Noble, put your fuckin foot through it next time!!

LVG should be walking off with a grin because Man U stole a point.... They didn't deserve fuck all today! Gone are the days of damage limitation.

Hopefully Nolan will be eased out in the summer along with Cole and a couple of other fringe players.

Nolan was better than usual, but nowhere good enough.

Nolan played well by his standards today, but that was still an average performance. What he did was good, but he is still far too anonymous for a midfield player.

I agree, pay the gooners what they want and job done. wenger has three in front of young carl (debuchy/bellerin/chambers) so how the fuck they can still demand mega money is beyond me

And as strange as this may sound, I'll be a little more gutted if we dont get jenks than if we don't get song.

Quality full backs are hard to find and we have a couple of belters.

young cheikou is a superb player. the daves need to get him on a long contract so we still have him by the time we get to the new stadium

had more pace all over the park
our front two never gave the mancs (rather podgy looking) back line a minute's peace
with reid back i'd move kouyate up to defensive midfield and song further forward where his creativity can do more damage
nolan actually played better than rooney in the battle of the fading midfield "giants"

Sven Roeder 9:02 Sun Feb 8
Re: West Ham v Man Utd - Official Match Thread 1-1 FT
Luke Shaw is certainly 'big boned'.
£30m you say? Well played Southampton

Hopefully Collins & or Reid fit for midweek and Kouyate ( who was superb today) can pop back into midfield.
At our best we can hold the ball better in midfield and carry it so Cresswell & Jenkinson can be in crossing positions further up the pitch.

I am kidding myself aren't I about the obvious change in the line up with a centre half back aren't I ?

Alex - new untested centre back pairing v one of footballs most expensive front 6? We dominated game for 60 mins.

Guilty of not putting away 2/3 good chances, not much else. Very good performance in fact we finished stronger after man utd had their best period of the game..
